This project is an example of a multimedia lesson based on the textbook, The Colorado Story by Thomas J. Noel and Debra Faulkner . This project will satisfy several Colorado state standards for social studies, reading and writing.
Informational and persuasive texts use the recursive writing process.
Correct sentence formation, grammar, punctuation, capitalization, and
spelling are applied to make the meaning clear to the reader.
Comprehension and fluency matter when reading informational and
persuasive texts in a facile way.
Connections within and across human and physical systems are developed.
I feel this project could still be accomplished if the above named textbook is not available. Additional books, websites or other resources may be needed for support.
In regards to the technology component, my students had already experienced Glogster. edu. It would be very important while teaching this lesson, to prepare your students with Glogster.edu before embarking. Also, accessibility to laptops, and/or a lab would be important. If students had internet access at home, this would be an excellent assignment to have in and out of the classroom.
Another area where my students were prepared before this assignment was being able to write a persuasive piece. We had previously practiced this genre and the students were comfortbale going forward with the type of writing this assignment asked for.
